Free Self Defence Classes at Horsehay Village Hall

Date:
Tuesday, 21st February 2023 06:45am

Woman and girls (12 and over) are being invited to attend three weekly sessions of free self defence classes at Horsehay Village Hall. The course is part of a joint project between Dawley Hamlets Parish Council and BVT Lightmoor Village and supported by the Safer and Stronger Programme.
The classes are being run by volunteer Bill Gilmour and the Modern CQC team, working with the council's Safer and Stronger Communities project.
They will be held at the Horsehay Hall on Tuesday 7, 21 and 28 February from 6.45pm to 8.45pm.
On attendance of all 3 classes you will receive a certificate of attendance and a Safer and Stronger personal safety alarm.
Girls aged 12-15 must be accompanied by a female adult.
Mr Gilmour will be teaching modern close quarter combative (CQC) method of self-defence, developed by military, police and martial arts practitioners which prepares people for real life encounters. "A lot of it is about building confidence, giving women the power to not be victims, regardless of their age, strength, size or fitness. After just three sessions, we have already noticed a big difference in confidence, awareness and ability".
If you would like to attend please contact Dawley Hamlets Parish Council.
