Things to see and do at Dawley Hamlets Local Nature Reserve:
The site supports a network of wooded pit mounds, large expanses of open water and includes an extensive network of footpaths with Castle Pool and The Dandy to the north.
There is a collection of pools to the south including Wide Waters, Furnace Polls and The Sprynge Pool to the south west.
The site supports a diverse bat assemblage with five species known to use the site.
An unnamed pool to the south of Wide Waters supports the only known site in the borough for Mare's-tail, a rare aquatic plant decreasing in range across Shropshire. Furnace Pools is also known to support the largest recorded population of great crested newts in the borough.

HORSEHAY POOL AND SIMPSONS POOL LOCAL NATURE RESERVE
Declared as a Local Nature Reserve in 2024, Horsehay and Simpsons Pools covers an area of 7 hectares in total. Horsehay Pool is a 3 hectare site and is comprised of a large mature lake along with the woodland and grassed surrounds. Simpsons Pool covers an area of 4 hectares which includes a deep former quarry pool and surrounding broadleaved woodland which provides habitat for birds and small mammals.
Horsehay Pool is located adjacent to the Telford Steam Railway, located at the former Horsehay Station part of the Great Western Railways Severn Junction Branch. The address is Bridge Road, Horsehay TF4 3UH.
Simpsons pool is a former quarry pit, since flooded. The address is Wellington Road, A5223, Horsehay TF4 2PU.
