As Chair of Dawley Hamlets Parish Council, I am pleased to confirm the outcome of the Community Governance Review led by Telford & Wrekin Council. Following three phases of public consultation, the message from our residents was clear and consistent: there is strong support for retaining Dawley Hamlets Parish Council and its name.
I would like to thank all residents for your thoughtful engagement and commitment throughout the review process, which made a meaningful difference. The Boundary Review Committee did listen to your comments and were clearly swayed by the depth of feeling and the widespread support for our parish.
I am also pleased to confirm that, from May 2027, Dawley Hamlets Parish Council will continue under its current name. At that time, Lightmoor Parish Ward—currently part of The Gorge Parish Council—will join Dawley Hamlets, which will then be represented by 9 Councillors across 4 Wards:
• Aqueduct Ward – 3 Councillors
• Horsehay Ward – 3 Councillors
• Lightmoor Ward – 2 Councillors
• Little Dawley Ward – 1 Councillor
On behalf of the Council, I extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this process. Your feedback—thoughtful, passionate, and wide-ranging—has not only shaped this outcome but will continue to guide our work across the parish.
We remain committed to working constructively with Telford & Wrekin Council and our Ward Councillors to deliver the very best for our community. This decision marks a positive step forward, and we look ahead with renewed focus and confidence.
Cllr Bob Wennington, Chair of Dawley Hamlets Parish Council
